Post-processing & Surface Finishing
In addition to SLS printing, we offer various post-processing options such as dyeing, smoothing, and other surface finishes.
Describe your component to us in a few lines. Your personal contact person will get in touch, clarify the data transfer method with you, and, if desired, a non-disclosure agreement – only then will we exchange your design data.
Selective Laser Sintering: how your component is created in SLS printing
A CO2 laser melts plastic powder layer by layer exactly where your component is formed. The build platform then lowers, and the next layer of powder follows. The surrounding powder supports the geometry during construction – support structures are not necessary, and internal contours remain manufacturable.
- Prepare 3D data: Your digital 3D model is prepared for SLS printing and optimally positioned in the build volume.
- Apply powder: A thin layer of plastic powder is evenly distributed on the build surface.
- Laser sinters the material: A precise laser fuses the powder particles layer by layer exactly at the points where your component is created.
- Layer by layer to the component: The process repeats until the component is fully built.
- Cooling and unpacking: After printing, the build volume cools down. The component is then carefully removed from the excess powder.
- Post-processing: The component is cleaned and further processed or finished according to requirements.

Surfaces and post-processing: from raw part to ready-to-install component
The surface of SLS components has a characteristic structure. Depending on the desired appearance, feel, and function, various post-processing methods are available:
The component is treated with a suitable medium to seal the surface, reduce porosity, and improve tightness.
Evenly smoothed surface, edges are deburred.
The surface is specifically smoothed and sealed, resulting in a finer, more uniform surface with improved haptics. Depending on the application, this can also support suitability for certain sterilization procedures.
The components are evenly colored and receive a durable, high-quality color finish.
For a high-quality appearance and additional surface resistance, the components are coated with a suitable paint.
From SLS manufacturing to machined metal components and surface finishing to the production and assembly of ready-to-install assemblies – with us, you get everything from a single source.
Why SLS printing pays off:
typical applications.
Our SLS printing service is particularly in demand from the aerospace industry, the electrical industry and semiconductor technology, medical technology, as well as mechanical engineering, plant construction, and automotive manufacturing.
- Functional prototypes: Components that are stressed in use, rather than just showing the form.
- Series parts without tooling: Small and medium series without tooling investment – mold making is eliminated, and unit costs remain largely stable over quantity.
- Fixtures and grippers: Grippers, holders, and inspection gauges for in-house production, easily and quickly available.
- Spare parts on demand: Components no longer available on the market are created individually from the dataset.
- Function integration and lightweight design: Integrated channels, lattice structures for weight reduction, fewer screws, and fewer assembly steps.
What our customers
say about us.
Condor has been our supplier for a long time. The short communication channels, technical expertise, and high technological standards are crucial for us.

Correct design for SLS printing: our feasibility check
To ensure your component optimally utilizes the advantages of SLS printing, we check your dataset for function, weight, manufacturability, and economic efficiency even before calculation. Among other things, we consider where material can be saved, how several individual parts can be combined into one component, or how channels and lattice structures can be integrated. The appropriate design of threaded inserts as well as solutions for assembly and joining are also taken into account during the design phase.
You will receive the transparent results together with our offer.
Tested components, documented results
- Tensile specimens per build job: For each build job, we sinter and test tensile specimens. This proves that the material quality is not only set but also documented.
- In-house testing: We control dimensions and surfaces with our own measuring technology, including a Zeiss Contura G2. You will receive a measurement report if you order one.
- Certified processes: DIN EN ISO 9001 and DIN EN ISO 13485, TÜV-tested – allowing us to manufacture for medical technology, where documentation requirements are stricter.
- Confidentiality from the start: We do not pass on your datasets to third parties. Upon request, we will sign a non-disclosure agreement before you send us data.
Have SLS printed:
with this information, it's faster.
For the initial inquiry, a few details are sufficient: what the component is, the quantity, the target date, and, if known, the desired surface finish. You do not need to submit design data at this point. Your personal contact person will get in touch and coordinate with you how to send us your dataset as a STEP or STL file. We are happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement before transmission. Afterwards, we check the feasibility and calculate your component.
Frequently Asked Questions about SLS Printing
SLS printing stands for Selective Laser Sintering, an additive manufacturing process. A CO2 laser melts plastic powder layer by layer exactly where the component is formed; the surrounding powder supports the geometry, so no support structures are necessary. For resilient functional plastic components, SLS is the most common industrial process.
Costs depend on the component’s volume, its height in the build volume, and post-processing, not on a flat rate. Because no tooling needs to be built, even single parts are calculable, and unit costs remain largely stable over quantity. Multiple components in one build job make better use of the build volume and reduce costs per part. A reliable statement is provided by the calculation of your dataset.
We sinter polyamide PA 12 (PA 2200). The material is strong, stiff, chemical-resistant, long-term stable, and biocompatible according to EN ISO 10993-1 and USP Class VI (121 °C).
The build volume of our two EOS P 396 systems measures 330 × 330 × 600 mm each. Larger components can be manufactured in sections and joined; whether this is sensible will be clarified based on your dataset.
Fast from dataset to finished part: Our flexible manufacturing enables short delivery times – from production to post-processing from a single source.
Yes. We manufacture in SLS printing from lot size 1, as well as small and medium series. Because no tooling is built, tooling investment is eliminated, and changes to the component can be implemented without retooling costs.
The achievable accuracy depends on the component size, geometry, and position in the build volume. We therefore evaluate your tolerance specifications as part of the feasibility check and inform you before the order which dimensions are reliably achievable and which require mechanical post-processing.
In-house, we sinter plastic using the SLS process. Other processes such as stereolithography (SLA), FDM, or selective laser melting of metal (SLM) are covered through our partner network in Germany. You still receive the service from a single source: one order, one contact person, one delivery.
Manufacturing takes place directly in our own production facility in East Westphalia, Germany. With short distances and high manufacturing expertise, we supply customers nationwide, throughout Europe, and worldwide.
